JANIS LUNDMAN

Janis Lundman is a principal owner and Executive Producer at Back Alley Film Productions Ltd. A visionary producer with a track record for delivering award-winning dramatic content Lundman co-created, executive produced and financed the feature documentary Talk 16 and the drama series Straight Up, Drop the Beat, and Bliss, and three seasons of the critically acclaimed one-hour drama series Durham County. Nominated for twenty-four Canadian Screen Awards and winning eight, the series has also been sold to over 100 international broadcasters.

Lundman was the Executive Producer of the WWII series Bomb Girls starring Oscar-nominated actress Meg Tilly as well as for the spin-off MOW, Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy, which won the 2015 Canadian Screen Award for Best Dramatic Mini-Series or TV Movie. Lundman recently served as Executive Producer on the mystery-thriller series Bellevue (CBC/WGN America), starring Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin.

Lundman is currently Consulting Executive of the drama series Coroner (CBC/ NBCU), based on the bestselling book series by M.R. Hall. The series premiered in January 2019 as the highest-rated new drama on CBC in four years and will return for season two in Winter 2020. Coroner centres on a newly appointed coroner, Jenny Cooper, as she investigates suspicious deaths in Toronto.

Lundman has received the prestigious Excellence in Production Award from Women in Film and Television-Toronto and currently serves as a member of the board of the Quebec English Language Production Council (QEPC) and the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC). Previously she served on the board of the Canada Media Production Council.

 

 

ADRIENNE MITCHELL

Adrienne Mitchell is a principal owner and Executive Producer at Back Alley Film Productions Ltd., and an award-winning film and television director and showrunner. She received the 2017 Nell Shipman Award for her efforts in advancing gender equity in the entertainment industry. In her more than 25-year career, Mitchell’s highlights include the documentary features Talk 16 and Talk 19, TV dramas Straight Up, Drop the Beat, Bliss, Played, and the critically acclaimed Durham County, which Mitchell co-created and served as Co-Showrunner. She also directed numerous episodes and received the 2010 DGC Craft Award for her work.

Mitchell was the Co-Showrunner, Co-Creator, and Director of the WWII series Bomb Girls (Global TV/ReelzChannel). Mitchell earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series, and Best Direction award at the International TV Festival Bar Montenegro. Mitchell later executive produced the MOW, Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy, which won the 2015 Canadian Screen Award for Best Dramatic Mini-Series or TV Movie. Mitchell also recently co-created, executive produced, and was Lead Director of the mystery-thriller series Bellevue (CBC/WGN America), starring Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin.

Mitchell continues to develop dramatic series with Back Alley and individually. She recently optioned Helen Humphreys’ novel “The Evening Chorus” for her feature film directorial debut.
